WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index)

WOMAC Osteoarthritis Index er et spørreskjema som måler helsetilstand innenfor tre dimensjoner hos personer med artrose i hofter og/eller knær:

• Smerte
• Stivhet
• Fysisk funksjon

Instrumentet brukes hovedsakelig til å beskrive funksjonsnivået i en pasientgruppe eller til å evaluere effekten og nytten av tiltak på gruppenivå.

Skjemaet inneholder totalt 24 spørsmål:

• Fem spørsmål om smerte
• To spørsmål om stivhet
• 17 spørsmål om fysisk funksjon

Pasienten krysser selv av på en femgradert skala. Verdiene for hver delskala summeres og deles på antall spørsmål. Dette gir en gjennomsnittsverdi for hver av de tre dimensjonene.
